Long Weekend. :)

I had a self-induced long weekend and it was great.

I took Friday off. I got up early and drove to Lowell for my teeth-cleaning. After that I had a yummy bagel with Steve and then went home and hung out for a bit. For lunch, we had a lunch date to Chunky's where we saw The Simpsons Movie and had tasty treats. Thoughts on the movie: it was great. If you like the series even a little bit you should see the movie. Without giving away any plot details, I'll say that it was like a really well-written 1.5 hour long episode. Well worth the $5.50 Chunky's matinee price that I paid for it.

The rest of Friday was mostly productive; we got some stuff done we'd been meaning to get done around the house and some other errands. I made a tasty salad for dinner with some Spring Mix, Lime Cilantro Turkey Tips from The Meathouse, celery, red bell peppers, pineapple, and some tropical salad toppers that I found. It was mighty tasty. After that we went to Best Buy and bought season 7 of the West Wing on DVD. What a great series, and so far the last season has not been disappointing. Tonight we're watching the debate between the two candidates that was actually broadcast as a live debate when it was done.

Saturday was mostly productive followed by some fun. I went to the bank and changed my name, got some grocery shopping done, went to Borelli's and picked up Steve's birthday cake (which was SUPER YUMMY!). Then I cleaned the apartment up and made a double batch of chicken marsala and some garlic toast. Around 6:00 people started arriving for the pot-luck dinner I threw for Steve. Josh, The Seeds, Chip, Derek & Stacey, and Krista were able to make it out so we had a great time. LOTS of food leftover and I don't think I'll be needing to do much grocery shopping this week with what's left in our fridge. Not a bad thing though.

Sunday was good too. We got up and went to church, then after that we went and met Steve's parents in Manchester for lunch. Good times as always with the in-laws, and the food was tasty too (we went to Cactus Jack's). After that we went over to the Manchester Sam's Club because we were low on paper towels and we grabbed a few other things too. Among them was a copy of A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Houssani; I saw it and told Steve to tell me to wait for paperback, then when we got in the car he handed it to me (he got it in the check-out line with his mom). Yay! Then we went home and I got some more reading done, did some laundry, and we watched more West Wing.

Overall... a pretty good weekend. A very relaxing weekend.

Oh! I did forget to mention that we're very close to having the RBC recipe down. It's this drink we had in Jamaica; RBC stands for Rum Creme, Banana, and Colada Mix. One of the things we did on Friday was go and buy a blender so we could figure this drink out. The bartender at the pool bar made this drink on our last day there, and it was so good that we were determined to figure out how to make it. Very close!!!

I hope you enjoy the book, I loved his first one...and I'm trying to wait for the new one to come in paperback...or at least until the local library gets it in.
