"Eat, Pray, Love"

I just finished the book "Eat, Pray, Love" by Elizabeth Gilbert. It's a book about her spiritual journey and self-discovery as she searched for balance in her life after a miserable few years and a messy divorce. I found it to be a very inspiring book and have started to reflect on myself in certain areas of my life (well, except the whole wanting a divorce thing... yeah, I don't want a divorce) and so far it's been very good.

Anyway... this morning as I typed up my review about it on my Good Reads page (in fact, go there to read it!), it occurred to me that I never "officially" announced that my book reviews are all there now. I had started to do it on this blog, but then Mags sent me an invitation to join Good Reads. I checked it out, and absolutely loved that you can catalog the books you've read. I love that you can review them and let other people know what you thought of them. You can network with your friends and share reviews and booklists and you can exchange what books you have that others may want to read. My favorite part is that it has "bookshelves" where you can list what categories (which you create) your books fall into, and they have a built-in "to-read" shelf.

The to-read shelf lends for some accountability that I tend to need when it comes to reading. I often will buy new books without putting a dent in the books I already have (which reminds me - September 21-22 the Nevins Library in Methuen is having a book sale...) and will stare at a shelf for hours trying to figure out what to read. With the to-read list, I can just check off the books I want to read as I read them and then add new books once the list is depleted. I heart it. This is a great website for me because I've always tended to be a bookworm and have enjoyed discussing books I've read with others.

Anyhow - now that I've given Good Reads a free plug, I'll go back to work. I'll be sure to let you all know when I post a new review over there so that you can read it if you're interested (since I know a lot of you are also Good Reads members).

Also... Kristin turned me on to Pandora Radio at her afternoon tea on Sunday and I've been listening to it this morning. I'm a fan so far. I'm sure in a few more days I'll have a better feel, but so far I think it's purty cool.

I have a Good Reads account, but I've never used it...I started using Shelfari and got used to it.

And Pandora is awesome...I've been using it for awhile, I have an insane number of stations so I never get bored.

Also a Shelfari user. I don'think anyone has enough time to keep up both though. I also am a fan of the picture.
