Super Crazy Busy

So this weekend was absolutely insanely busy.

Friday night Steve took me out for dinner at the Grand China which is my favorite Chinese restaurant ever. Not really entirely sure why because it's not really fancy, and the decor is very circa 1975 (though they did redo their billiards area). The food is just standard American Chinese fare, but I've always really enjoyed their food. So that was exciting. After that we went to Babies R' Us to pick up a shower gift, then to BJ's to decide if we want to go there or Sam's Club for our next bulk-buy membership (we're still undecided). After we got home I made a mixed-berry trifle and then we went to bed.

Saturday I spent cooking, cleaning, and just getting ready for the potluck we had with our friends from church that night. We did a book swap and an Iron Chef potluck and it was a HUGE success. I would love to make every potluck an Iron Chef potluck. We did apps/main dishes with cheese and desserts with berries. It was so cool to see all the things that people brought. Everyone had a great time just chatting about books (I know, super nerdy) and enjoying all the food. I grabbed "A Civil Action" and "Abraham" that I need to add to my "to read" list on Good Reads. We all decided that we'll have to do another book swap night because it was so much fun and we all got some new books to read.

Sunday was also busy. I got up early and made pita chips for the baby shower yesterday, then went to church and helped Laura H. and Priscila set up the baby shower, then it was the baby shower. It went really well and our friends Marie and Greg got lots of great stuff to welcome Baby Eric into the world. Tons of food left over too, some of which the engineers here at work are picking on today. We were there until about 3:30 and then headed home. I did some errands (Mom's birthday is coming up!) and then an old friend of ours stopped over for a couple of hours. It was interesting to catch up with him though for the last hour he was there I was heavily distracted by the Patriots game.

What a GREAT game that was! I completely enjoyed watching the Pats stomp all over the Chargers, acheiving a 38-14 score. They definitely played like they had something to prove - and I would say that they proved it. In my opinion Randy Moss and Rosevelt Colvin were the players of the game. I had originally wanted to go to bed at halftime, but the game was so good that I forced myself to stay awake to see the whole game.

And... of course Al Michaels and John Madden were present for the announcing. Al always looks so pained when Madden talks. My favorite Madden line of the night: "Tom Brady is a lot calmer than Peyton Manning is... sometimes Manning looks like he's had 2 pots of coffee back there." Oh John Madden.

I wish I knew more "readers" so I could organize a book swap like that.
