Tackle-It Tuesday - Amigurumi!
This week for my tackle, I got over my courage and took Kimberly up on her offer to learn how to do Amigurumi - which is basically just a technique to make crochet toys. I (again) don't have a picture of the before, but I can list what I started with.
Before: I started with:
- Red Heart Yarn in Pale Yellow and a teal color
- A size "G" crochet hook
- Beads
- Felt
- This pattern
Now, if you've been reading you know that I've been nervous about pattern reading. I'm proud to say that I've done three patterns so far (with 40 more queued in my Ravelry) and the Amigurumi bird was definitely the harder of the three. Then I improvised a quick little hat to put on its head when I was done. The bird was a lot easier than I had geared myself up to think it was going to be and I now know how to read and do a couple of different things that I didn't know how to do before.
At any rate - without further a-do, here is Barbie the Bird:
So... now I've updated my Ravelry queue with all sorts of patterns because the ability to make a bird and learn new techniques/stitches has greatly increased my confidence.
*Special thanks to Kimberly for her awesome coaching on Saturday!

Very cute. Happy TT
That is soooo cute! You did a wonderful job!
Hee hee hee! How cute! Look at her little hat.
Waah I can't see the picture. I'm a fellow crocheter too. But I haven't tackled the little toys yet. There are lots of fun posts about these little guys at crochetville.
Blessings,
Theresa
It kinda looks like she wants to wave, but she's too young for her muscles to work yet.
I had fun learnin' ya!
(How's the fleet of chickens coming along?)
During Christmas vacation, I need to learn to crochet.
